Lectures and workshops
Discover Journal Writing - weekly on Tuesdays, 7 pm, McAuliffe Library. At this workshop you’ll be writing, learning new tips and techniques, and possibly sharing your stories. Registration required at the McAuliffe circulation desk, or by calling 508-532-5636 x4374.
Conversations about White Privilege - Oct. 15, 5 pm, Open Spirit Center, Edwards Hall, Saxonville. Attendees will explore how we can stop racism in ourselves and others. Facilitated by Thea Iberall. Suggested donation $10 to $20.
Framingham Makerspace tours - Wednesday evenings 7 to 9 pm in building 3 of the Saxonville Mill complex. The community space is for “people who like putting things together,” featuring a metal shop, wood shop, welding shop, and more. Raspberry Pi/Arduino night on Oct. 19, 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
Spiritual Growth
5th Annual Weekend of Spirit - dinner Oct. 19, all day Saturday, Oct. 20. This mini-retreat features shared meals, music, conversation, art projects and experiential workshops, all aimed at delving into the theme: “Circles of Healing: Our Selves, Our Communities, Our World.” Throughout the event, attendees will explore the ways those circles emanate and intersect. Fall Festival at Eastleigh Farm - Oct. 15 10 am to 4 pm. Farm goods, music, food, antiques and artisans. $10 parking.
Holiday
Halloween outdoor movie screening: Night of the Living Dead - Oct. 31, 6:30 pm at the McAuliffe Library. First-ever free outdoor movie at the branch library. It may be getting a little chillier, but that’s perfect for a spooky classic. They’ll have hot cocoa and candy for some Halloween treats before the movie. Bring your own lawn chair and/or blankets.
Voices from the Edgell Grove Cemetery - Oct. 28, 4 pm. Stroll through this “garden cemetery” modeled after Mount Auburn in Cambridge and “visit” with some of the luminaries buried there, including mapmaker Warren Nixon and a Revolutionary War soldier. Suitable for ages 8 and older. Sponsored by the Framingham History Center, tickets $10 members, $15 non-members, $20 per family, and $5 for ages 8-18. Rain date November 5.
