1 to 1:45 pm: Healthy Living Series: Stretch and Meditate, with senior fitness specialist Laila Vehvilainen. McAuliffe Library.

2 to 3 pm: Healthy Living Series: Let’s Talk Nutrition. Discussion includes navitating restaurants and social situations, as well as the addictive nature of certain foods and strategies to find balance without deprivation. McAuliffe Library.

6:30 pm: Garlic Mustard Foraging and Tasting at Open Spirit. Participants will get their hands dirty foraging and then come together to prepare a light repast of simple and flavorful recipes and to discuss the spirituality of eating invasive plants.. 7 pm: Weekly Journal Writers group, McAuliffe Library. Every Tuesday in May, 7 to 8 pm, no registration necessary.

7 - 9 pm: Framingham Makerspace at the Saxonville Mills is open for tours. Every Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm.

Saturday, May 12

2 pm Meditative Mandala Workshop. Participants will leave with a mandala design of their own creation and the resources to continue the practice on their own. Supplies will be provided. $15, Open Spirit. See more info

Sunday, May 13

2:30 pm Painting flowers with artist Patrick St. Pierre, at Open Spirit. Join local artist Patrick St. Pierre to paint flowers on Mother’s Day, using the painting “Flowers on Green” as a guide. All levls of experience – including none at all – are welcome. All materials will be provided, including paint, canvas, and brushes. 7 to 9 pm: PBS POV Movie Series: Mother’s Day. Once a year on Mother’s Day, a charity bus service takes children to visit their mothers in prison across California. Nearly one in 10 children in the state have a parent in prison. Through this bus journey, this documentary explores the impact of mass incarceration on a generation of children. McAuliffe Library.

Saturday, May 19

6:30 am: Royal Wedding Viewing Party. Yes, you read that correctly - 6:30 AM.Tea, coffee, and pastries will be served as the Royal Wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is streamed live at the McAuliffe Library.

6:30 pm Breaking the Fast of Ramadan and Celebrating Multi-Faith Friendship at Open Spirit. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sundown. Each night at sundown, the gather with family and friends for an iftar, a time of prayers and breaking the fast with favorite holiday foods. This Open Spirit iftar is for people of all faiths and backgrounds. You are invited to bring a vegetarian dish to share. More info.

According to an announcement at the recent Friends of Saxonville meeting, there will be a City Council “summit” on McGrath Square improvements, at Cameron Middle School. I haven’t heard details about time or agenda, though.
