Today and tomorrow: Saxonville Mills Open Studios. Explore Saxonville Studios, Fireseed Arts, The Mill Contemporary Art Studios, The Potting Shed, Framingham Maker Space, Framed In Time, and others. Friends of Saxonville will also participate. Visitors will be able to tour spaces, talk with vendors, buy original works, and more. Light refreshments will be available. Noon to 5 pm both Saturday November 17 and Sunday November 18.
Monday, Nov. 19, 7 to 8 pm, McAuliffe Library: Community Puzzle Swap. What to do with jigsaw puzzles you’ve completed? Swap them! Bring your puzzles to exchange with others. Primarily 500+ pieces, but all puzzles are welcome. No puzzle to swap? Come anyway, there are always extras for you to try.
Tuesday, Nov. 20, 7 to pm, Temple Beth Am: Framingham Interfaith Thanksgiving Service hosted by the Framingham Interfaith Community Association. Join neighbors from many faith traditions for an intergenerational, interfaith service. There will be reflections on gratitude from three faith traditions, readings or blessings from 8 faith traditions, a special message for young people, and lots of music.
Sunday, Nov. 25, 7 pm: Exploration Under the Moon & Stars (Wayland). Settle your heart and body into a calm and quiet place as you transition from Thanksgiving to the workday week during an evening walk by the light of the full moon. All are welcome to walk through the woods, field, and along the Sudbury River in the Greenways Conservation Area. You are invited to bring a story, song, or poem to share about the moon, autumn, or nature. Free. Sponsored by Open Spirit and AMC Outdoors RX. Location: Greenways Conservation Area on the Green Way in Wayland. Meet in the parking lot. Registration requested.
Wednesday, Nov. 28, 7 pm: Movie Night: “Crazy Rich Asians,” McAuliffe Library.
Saturday, Dec. 1, 10 am to 4 pm: Framingham High School Holiday Marketplace. More than 80 vendors of arts, crafts, jewelry, food, and clothing. Admission ticket proceeds support high school programs.
Friday, Dec. 7, 5:45 pm (downtown): 27th annual tree lighting ceremony will feature musical performances by Framingham Public Schools and Framingham Girl Scouts, as well as face pointing, cookies, hot chocolate, and photos with Santa.
Saturday, Dec. 8, 1 to 4 pm, Edwards Hall: Open Spirit Holiday Fair of Hope. Purchase gifts that help make the world a better place, including fair trade chocolate and coffee, scarves to support A Place to Turn, homemade cards to support a local LGBTQ group, and more. New this year - take a photo with Santa on an antique fire truck. On the campus of Edwards Church, 39 Edwards St.
Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5:30 pm: Exploration Under the Moon and Stars: The Woods at Night. Bring a flashlight but be ready to turn it off! This walk beside the Sudbury River encourages attendees to explore the beauty of the nighttime sky. Walk leaders will ensure that walking conditions are safe at this event held at the Carol Getchell Nature Trail on Little Farms Road in Framingham. We will meet in the cul-de-sac. Sponsored by Open Spirit. Registration requested.
Friday, Dec. 14, 5:30 pm or 6:30 pm: Holiday Skies at the Framingham State University Planetarium. Celebrate the season with this live astronomical ‘variety show.’ You’ll learn why the December solstice has inspired so many cultural traditions, with origins in all corners of the globe and throughout most of human history. The longest night of the year means plenty of time for stargazing, and we may even get a chance to travel to the Earth’s North Pole. Pre-register starting a week before the event at christa.org/fsuplanetarium.
