RiverFest 2019 will feature historic walking tours, a canoe paddle, and several nature hikes, as Framingham joins communities across eastern Massachusetts to celebrate the Sudbury River on Saturday and Sunday June 22 and 23.
Among the events:
Saxonville Historical Wallking Tours with Jennifer Doherty, Historic Preservation Planner with the Framingham Historical Commission, Saturday 9 to 10 am and 4 to 5 pm. No pre-registration required; meet at the old Danforth Street Bridge.
Sudbury River Paddle Saturday 11 am to 1 pm with Ron Chick, chair of the River Stewards Initiative of the Friends of Saxonville. RSVP to ronchick@comcast.net if you want to reserve a canoe, or bring your own. Meet at 151 Central Street at 11:00 am.
Cochituate Rail Trail Walk from Framingham to Natick Saturday 2 to 4 pm with the Friends of Saxonville and the Framingham Conservation Commission. Meet at the start of the trail at Concord and School Streets. The walk will cross Rte. 30 and follow the trail’s future route through Natick. Leashed dogs welcome. Twilight Walk Along the Sudbury River Saturday 7:45 pm. Join the Framingham Conservation Commission a walk along the Sudbury River on the Carol Getchell Nature Trail. Meet at the cul-de-sac at the end of Little Farms Road. Spreading Seed: Land Art Inspired Performative Exhibit along the Carol Getchell Trail, Sunday, 1 to 4 pm. Join artist Katie Lee as she creates art installations along the river, using natural materials. Guests can observe the artistic process for part or all of the time. If you arrive after 1:00 pm, find Katie along the trail. No pre-registration required. The exhibit will begin at the Danforth Bridge.
