Framingham Covid-19 Positivity Ticks Down This Week

Framingham’s positive rate for Covid-19 tests ticked back down below 3% this week, according to data released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. While still substantially above the state-wide average of 1.8%, it’s some good news after several weeks of increases.

The seven-day average of known new Covid-19 cases dipped today as well. With the announcement of 8 new cases, that averaged to 3.6 cases per day over the prior 7 days.

Free state-sponsored Covid-19 testing began in Framingham today at Keefe Tech, but results of those tests were not yet included in today’s numbers. While number of confirmed cases may rise in the next two weeks because many more Framingham residents will likely be tested while the free test site is operating, it will be key to keep an eye on positivity rates.

The site will be open through Friday, Aug. 14. Testing will be available Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. Anyone is eligible, whether or not they have symptoms; no appointment is needed; and the cost is free, with no insurance required.

This will is a drive-through testing site only. Test results are expected in about 72 hours. Fallon Ambulance is conducting the tests.
