Framingham Covid-19 Positivity Down Again

Despite a rise in new known Covid-19 cases in Framingham this week, with 24 reported on Aug. 10, testing positivity rate declined again to 2.24% – lowest since mid-July.

The decline in positivity rate was especially good news since this is the first week of results from state-sponsored free testing at Keefe Tech. The decline in the percent showing positive likely means that the increased cases were mostly due to the increase in tests and not a rise in actual infection rates. (No matter how many tests are performed, some new cases will probably be missed because it’s impossible to test everyone every week.)

While the seven-day average of known new Covid-19 cases was up vs early August, that’s likely mostly due to additional testing.

2,996 tests were administered to people in Framingham in the prior 14 days, compared with 2,012 the previous 14-day period.

Free state-sponsored Covid-19 testing began in Framingham on Aug. 3 at Keefe Tech. Originally slated to end this Friday, the state-backed pop-up testing sites have now been extended until Sept. 12.

Testing is available Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. Anyone is eligible, whether or not they have symptoms; no appointment is needed; and the cost is free, with no insurance required.

This will is a drive-through testing site only. Test results are expected in about 72 hours. Fallon Ambulance is conducting the tests.
