More than half of all Framingham registered voters have already cast ballots for the November election, according to data emailed by the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office Monday. And, the city is up to framingham_pct_already_voted_vs_2016_total of its 2016 total turnout before Election Day.
At least 51.9% of Framingham registered voters have either early voted in person or returned ballots by postal mail or dropbox, as of totals available 4 p.m. Monday. Statewide, at least 48.7% of registered voters have voted so far.
There are more registered voters in Framingham compared with four years ago, with the total rising from 39,722 to 41,685. Framingham had a 75.6% turnout in the presidential election four years ago, or 30,028 voters. So far at least 21,626 have voted this year.
Mail/dropbox has been considerably more popular than in-person early voting in Framingham. Among early voters, 71% have done mail or drop off vs 29% in person.
If you’re registered and received a vote-by-mail ballot, you can still return it to one of the city’s two drop boxes: in front of the McAuliffe Library or behind the Memorial Building (city hall). Ballots can also be dropped off in person at the City Clerk’s office Monday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and 3:30 to 4 p.m. The clerk’s office will be closed on Election Day.
Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. Tuesday, and vote-by-mail ballots cannot be returned at in-person polling places Tuesday.
Of course, you can also vote in person this Tuesday. Regular polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find your precinct voting location.
