Framingham Covid-19 Known New Infections Continue to Drop

Framingham’s rate of known new Covid-19 infections continues to drop, according to data released today by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. New cases were down to 0.8 per 100,000 population, while test positivity dropped to 0.23%.

Both numbers are now below state-wide averages, which were 1 case per 100K and 0.33% test positivity.

Number of tests administered also continued to decline, likely as demand drops among vaccinated residents. In addition, the walk-in test center downtown has been closed, although free drive-through testing at the Framingham State Maple Street commuter parking lot is still open.

Number of tests administered declined 9.5% versus the prior 14-week period, but number of cases dropped more, down 27%.

Almost 64% of all city residents are now fully vaccinated, and 72% have received at least one dose. About 15% of Framingham residents are too young to be vaccinated.
