Framingham’s rate of known new Covid-19 cases was the highest it’s been since April – a time when substantially fewer people were able to be vaccinated.
There were 123 new known cases in the last 7 days, a rate of 23.6 per 100,000 per day, according to data released today by the city. Test positivity was 1.93%, though, which is better than it was in April.
The rise in known cases mirrors a similar increase statewide. The number of Covid hospitalizations in Massachusetts is the highest it’s been since March, Jon Levy, a professor at Boston University’s School of Public Health, posted this week on Twitter. “Percent positive highest since February.”
Some Massachusetts hospitals will be cutting back on non-urgent surgical procedures starting on Monday because of strained capacity due to rising Covid hospitalizations and staffing shortages.
