Veterans and supporters will visit six historic cemeteries in Framingham to honor deceased residents. Remembrances, prayers, honor guard rifle salute, and patriotic music will occur at each location on Monday, May 30, 2022:
8am: Assemble at Memorial Building
8:15 am: St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Winthrop Street
8:40 am: Old Burial Ground, Main Street
9 am: Edgell Grove Cemetery, Grove Street
9:20 am: St. Stephens Cemetery, Fenwick Street (not technically District 2 but only a few blocks over the line in District 4)
9:40 am: St. George Cemetery, Cherry Street (not technically District 2 but only a few blocks over the line in District 4)
10 am: Edwards Cemetery, Edwards Street (District 2)
10:20 am: Rousseau Garage (refreshments served), School Street (District 2)
Starting at 11 am, there will be a tribute to 17 Gold Star families of Framingham veterans in the Memorial Building’s Nevins Hall at 150 Concord Street, downtown Framingham.
Each Gold Star family will receive a Medal of Liberty, presented by Massachusetts Senate President Karen E. Spilka, in recognition of the service and sacrifice of their family member who served in World War II.
These Memorial Day events are free and open to the public.
