Framingham Covid Rates, Positivity Still High but Drop Some

Framingham’s rates of known new Covid-19 infections, while still high, was down versus the prior week, according to data released today by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Test positivity also declined.

The city averaged 69.4 cases per day per 100,000 population in the last 14 days. That’s down from 80.6 the previous week. Test positivity dropped to 7.91% vs 8.7% last week.

Framingham’s infection rate is still substantially higher than the cutoff for high-risk red zones under the Baker administration’s new color scale, which is at least 10 cases per 100K and 4% positivity.

Number of tests administered was roughly flat this week vs last.

State averages

The state averaged 63.2 known new cases per 100,000 in the last 14 days, down slightly from the prior week’s 65.1. Test positivity was up slightly: 6.14% vs. 6.01%.
